45 From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over all the land.46 About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lemasabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”). Matthew 27: 45-46
50 And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.
51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split 52 and the tombs broke open.Matthew 27: 50-51
Scholars debate the exact year that Jesus was crucified, but we know for certain that it was between 26 A.D. and 36 A.D as that is when Pontius Pilate was the governor of Judea.
It is intersting to look at the date of April 3, 33 AD. Because our universe runs basically like a big clock, NASA can look back and tell with certianty that there were a number of eclipses during the rein of Pilate. Sure enough, there was a partial Lunar eclipse in Jerusalem at the time the bible describes the crucifixion. This date also lines up with Passover occuring on a Friday. What is even more interesting, the German Resource Center for Geosciences researched earthquake activity in the area and confirmed an earthquake in the Dead Sea Basin on this date.
Of course, the date does not matter. Your value was determined because God paid the ultimate price, and heaven went fully bankrupt on that day to purchase you back! That is the important part...
But, it is fun to look at the history and explore. What are your thoughts? Let us know below!
