The Gospel in Genesis

From Adam to Noah

5 This is the written account of Adam’s family line.

When God created mankind, he made them in the likeness of God. ² He created them male and female and blessed them. And he named them “Mankind”^[a] when they were created. NIV Genesis 5.

An amazing revelation in Genesis appears in the names of geneaology from Adam to Noah. When you look at the Hebrew translation of those names we see a hidden message:

Adam = Man

Seth = Appointed

Enosh = Mortal

Cainan = Sorrow

Mahalalel = The Blessed God

Jared = Shall Come Down

Enoch = Teaching

Methusaleh = His Death Shall Bring

Lamech = The Despairing

Noah = Rest

When you put those together and read, "Man was appointed mortal sorrow. The blessed God shall come down teaching. His death shall bring the despairing rest."

We see the entire Gospel of Jesus Christ, God's full plan laid out from the very beginning. Never a plan B, alwasy plan A!

God's word is full of secret and hidden treasure. Sometimes it can be difficult when we are reading passages that appear a bit dull like geneaologies, but God's poetry and beauty is everywhere. Take a little time today to go a bit deeper and ask Holy Spirit to show you something new and awesome!
